Vibration Analyst Training (ISO-Based)

Vibration Analyst Level 2

Our 4-day Vibration Analyst Level 2 seminar provides the information and training essential for advancing an analyst’s Predictive Maintenance (PdM) skills. Attendees are instructed in data collection, analysis theory, identifying machinery faults, and performing basic corrective actions. And the course follows ISO 18436 guidelines for Vibration Analyst Level 2 for training and certification (ISO 18436.2, Condition Monitoring and Diagnostics of Machines – Requirements for Training and Certification of Personnel – Part 2: Vibration Condition Monitoring and Diagnostics).

Our highly experienced field staff will instruct your analysts in basic vibration measurement & analysis theory, and teach them how to identify common machinery faults. Your analysts will be able to properly measure vibration and diagnose most common machinery problems at the end of the seminar. We also provide guidance on properly configuring your PdM software for the correct frequency spans, lines of resolution, and spectral band alarms, all specifically based upon the design aspects of each machine.

This course does not focus on particular hardware or software offerings. We teach concepts applicable to most diagnostic systems and portable data collectors, and we highlight relevant analysis limitations. And workshops at the end of each topic provide relevant practice, and help prepare attendees for the optional Certification Examination offered on the last day of training.

Objectives

In addition to the skills required of a Level 1 Vibration Analyst, this course will help train analysts to:

  • Select the appropriate machinery vibration measurement technique
  • Set up instruments for basic resolution of amplitude, frequency and time
  • Perform basic vibration analysis of machinery and components, such as shafts, bearings, gears, fans, pumps and motors, using spectrum analysis
  • Maintain a database of results and trends
  • Perform basic (single-channel) impact tests to determine natural frequencies
  • Classify, interpret and evaluate the test results (including acceptance tests) in accordance with applicable specifications and standards
  • Recommend minor corrective actions
  • Understand basic single-plane field balancing concepts
  • Be aware of some of the causes and effects of bad measurement data
  • Prepare to start Level 3 training.

Who Should Attend?
Rotating equipment engineers, OEM service engineers, vibration analysts and technicians, supervisors, and managers who are involved with machinery maintenance and reliability, and have less than 1 – 2 years of related experience.

Prerequisites
None. However, for those seeking certification, we recommend 1 – 2 years of vibration analysis related experience.

Continuing Education
This course provides 32 Professional Development Hours (PDH) for engineering licensure requirements.
